Bechtel, PG&E; Unit Form Company: PG&E; Enterprises and Bechtel Enterprises Inc. agreed to form an electric energy company to develop, own and operate power projects outside the United States. In a news release, the San Francisco-based companies said the new firm will combine the international power activities of Bechtel and J. Makowski Co., an independent power company acquired by PG&E; Enterprises and Bechtel last year. The venture will initially focus on power project opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region, Southwest Asia and Latin America, as well as selected projects in Europe, the companies said. PG&E; Enterprises is a unit of Pacific Gas & Electric Co. Carlos Riva, former president and chief operating officer of J. Makowski, was named president and chief executive of the new firm, which has not yet been named. Financial terms were not disclosed.
