For the second time in two weeks, a senior official of Ventura-based Bank of A. Levy has taken a new position.

The bank, which was Ventura County’s largest independent bank, has been acquired by Los Angeles-based First Interstate Bank.

The latest move involves Clare F. Ellinger, who was Bank of A. Levy’s vice president of human resources. She has been named to a similar job at Blue Cross of California / WellPoint Health Networks in Woodland Hills.

A week earlier, American Commercial Bank, a three-office institution based in Ventura, hired Jeff Paul, another former Bank of A. Levy vice president, as a senior vice president and chief operating officer.

Blue Cross says Ellinger will strive to “enhance personnel relations and support the strategic direction of the organization,” which has more than 4,300 employees.

Prior to working at Bank of A. Levy, Ellinger was a vice president in charge of human resources and internal communications at Columbia Savings & Loan Assn. in Beverly Hills. She previously worked for CitiCorp.
