Silicon Graphics Inc. to Hire 3,000: The Mountain View, Calif., maker of computer workstations said this week that it will create the new jobs over the next 18 months, more than half of them at its headquarters. The new hires will increase the company’s total employment 65% to 7,500. “This is a landmark in our history,” said Harvey Frank, the company’s staffing manager, adding that for the first time, Silicon Graphics will be able to “go out and find the best talent out there and invest in our future.” At least 750 of the new positions are expected to be filled by recent college graduates.
