B of A Adding Security Features to Checks: The CheckSecure features, which will be provided at no extra charge and will appear on all checks sold by Bank of America, address counterfeiting and other forms of fraud, a spokeswoman said. They will be part of checks reordered beginning in March by customers in 10 western states and Illinois who buy their checks through the San Francisco-based bank. Among the features: microprint text in place of the signature line, in type too tiny to be photocopied or scanned without blurring; chemically sensitive paper that safeguards against chemical alteration attempts, and imprinted images that are difficult to duplicate on color copiers or laser printers.
