As part of an effort to showcase local businesses, the Moorpark City Council will contribute $5,000 to help pay for a Moorpark business directory.

The council voted Wednesday to help the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce pay for the directory, which is expected to cost $25,000, said chamber President Debbie Rodgers-Teasley, a local real estate agent.

Along with listings and phone numbers for local businesses, the directory will include information on transportation, housing, as well as on economic development and redevelopment in the city, Rodgers-Teasley said.

“We’re combining information on local business with city information,” she said. “The city can use the directory to attract businesses here as well as encouraging those people who live here to shop here.”

The chamber is using paid advertisements that will appear in the directory to cover the remaining costs of the book. Copies of the business directory will be ready at the end of March and distributed to every business and residence in the city, Rodgers-Teasley said.
