Antarctic Voyage

I was pleased to arrive home from a voyage to the Antarctic and find your Feb. 12 story about the Robert Scott expedition (“A Site Worth Saving at the South Pole”).
Our voyage with Southern Heritage Expeditions was called “In the Footsteps of Douglas Mawson,” another great early explorer of the Antarctic. We saw majestic ice formations, many different kinds of penguins, whales and dolphins, and we stopped at a number of islands between New Zealand and the Ross Ice Shelf. The conservation sentiments expressed in the story by New Zealand’s Antarctic Heritage Trust are deliberately carried out by the New Zealanders who are in charge of that region.
