Theaters: Imax Corp. and Sony Corp. said they will open new 3-D theaters in Berlin and San Francisco under the terms of a new three-year agreement. The two theaters are in addition to the successful Sony Imax theater that opened in November in New York’s Lincoln Square. Brad Wechsler, Imax chairman, said Sony is reviewing other sites for the 3-D theaters.

“We know other locations they’re looking at, but they haven’t set a certain number of theaters” they will open, he said. The new theaters are part of an agreement under which Sony will be Imax’s exclusive supplier of large-format motion picture systems for the next three years. The agreement also establishes the terms for Sony to lease new systems for other locations and extends the lease for the New York theater system from three years to 10.
