Eltron Reports Profit Soars in 4th Quarter

Eltron International Inc., a Chatsworth maker of bar-code label printers and software, reported that its fourth-quarter profit zoomed to $1.18 million from $347,200 in net income a year earlier.
Eltron’s sales in the quarter that ended Dec. 31 were $6.16 million, more than double the $2.26 million in sales registered in the fourth quarter of 1993.
For the full year, the company had a profit of $2.91 million, up from earnings of $815,400 in 1993. Its annual sales climbed to $17.5 million from $6.51 million.
The company attributed growth to strong demand for its printers, plus the acquisition in November of the British firm Russet Ltd., a bar-code equipment distributor.
