Broadway Stores Scales Back Remodeling Plans: The Los Angeles-based retailer said it has reduced its 1995 capital expenditure plans pending a review of its store remodeling program. Broadway Stores Inc. spent $110 million to remodel 27 of its 83 stores in 1994. The company had planned to spend about $100 million in 1995, but it now has a capital spending budget of $40 million. As a result, the company said, it is likely to remodel three stores instead of eight to 10. Broadway Stores President David Dworkin said the adjustment will allow the company time to determine whether there is a need for changes in its remodeling program.
