Trojans Deserve Better Than This

Gene Wojciechowski’s commentary on USC’s search for a basketball coach (March 8) was a little shortsighted. Apparently finishing last one time makes you the “estranged program” of your conference? I guess Duke is the estranged program of the ACC?

I admit USC is terrible this year. However, I also know they played in postseason tournaments the last four years. If you look at their success over the past 15 years, you’ll see that it’s comparable to any school in the Pac-10 other than UCLA or Arizona.

As for the insult of being rejected by Seth Greenberg, let’s not forget that UCLA was turned down by almost every respectable coach in the nation before settling for Jim Harrick.
