CALABASAS : Public Works Offers Composting Course

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works will sponsor a free six-week course on how to turn trash into compost beginning Monday.

The course will be held Mondays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Calabasas City Hall, 26135 Mureau Road.

It is designed for people who want to teach other people in their communities how to make compost.

The Countywide Backyard Composting Program, as it is called, is sponsored by the Public Works Department in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, the University of California Cooperative Extension and various cities throughout the county.
