Technical Products Unit Booms at Ingram: Ingram Micro Inc.’s technical products division has grown to account for a fourth of the company’s domestic sales, thanks to growing demand for networking products from small businesses, a company spokesman said.
The division’s sales topped $1 billion last year, helping the Irvine-based company grow to $5.8 billion in worldwide sales. Through the division, Ingram Micro sells advanced computers, known as servers, and components to enable customers to build their own computer networks.
Privately held Ingram Micro, with about 5,600 employees worldwide, is the world’s largest wholesale distributor of microcomputer products.
