His parents founded Shanagarry Pottery in County Cork, Ireland, where he was raised. His brother founded Stephen Pearce Pottery. It was inevitable that Simon Pearce, who made his reputation in Ireland as a glassblower, would come back to the family business. In 1981, he and his wife Pia moved to Quechee, Vt., where they transformed an old wool mill into a glass and pottery workshop. Some of his best pieces are his celadon plates and bowls.
