$228-Million Trade Deficit Reversed: Boosted by exports of finished products, customs statistics showed China posted a $1.77-billion trade surplus in February. Booming exports of finished industrial products and skyrocketing sales from Guangdong province were major factors in the surplus, the People’s Daily said, quoting figures from the General Administration of Customs. Diplomats forecast a second successive surplus for China in 1995, but said it would be smaller than the $5.3 billion recorded in 1994 as the benefits of the devaluation of its renminbi currency at the start of last year diminished. Exports in February were $8.9 billion, compared with $9.19 billion the previous month but rising from $5.734 billion in the same period last year.
