Poland’s War Role

Re “Growing Chill Pervades Ties With Moscow,” March 2:

If President Clinton needs a place to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the end of the war, then let him go to Warsaw. Let us not forget that it was in Poland that the war was begun as a result of German and Russian complicity. It is a country where innocent millions died. Poland remained a member of the Allies from the first day of the war until the very last. No other nation suffered as much during World War II and none will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the war’s end so fervently.

A visit to Moscow by the President of the United States, at the present time, would only lend legitimacy to the present regime, which once again repeats the worst of Stalin’s most odious crimes in the republic of Chechnya.
