Spindler’s Civil Rights

Thanks to the courage of John Spindler to speak up for his rights, the Simi Valley school district will no longer be allowed to infringe on students’ constitutional right to freely express themselves. The Valley View dress code must allow students to wear shirts conveying “an expression of thoughts or ideas.”

It was not wrong of John Spindler to defend his rights, but it was wrong of others to make hasty judgments and foster intolerance. Do the individuals who spoke at the school board meetings, wrote letters to the editor, or in other ways sought to defame Spindler or his family have the courage to publicly apologize for their words?

In a country based on the principles of life, liberty and justice for all, the members of this community have had the privilege of seeing justice become a reality.
