FHP’s Austin Moves to New Senior Position

Gloria Austin has been named senior vice president, health care delivery operations for FHP International Corp., a Fountain Valley health maintenance organization. Austin, who joined FHP in 1978, was most recently regional vice president in Southern California.

* Shelly B. Woodward has been appointed chief financial officer of Coastal Communities Hospital in Santa Ana. She was chief financial officer at Tustin Rehabilitation Hospital. In addition, Kent G. Clayton has been named associate administrator. He was assistant administrator for Community Hospital of Gardena. And Deborah Kloman-Lichter has joined the hospital as director of marketing. She had been director of marketing at Chapman General Hospital.

* Robert Carley has opened Robert Carley Associates, a management and business development consulting firm in Irvine. He spent 23 years as project manager, vice president and senior vice president for Robert Bein, William Frost & Associates.

* William J. Polvino has been appointed medical director and general manager of IBRD-Rostrum’s Center for Clinical Research in Irvine, a provider of pharmaceutical and biotechnology product research and development services. He was director of clinical pharmacology at Merck Research Laboratories.
