Rockwell to Purchase Producer of Car Window Lift System

Rockwell International Corp. said Friday it will purchase a car window business from Dura Automotive Systems Inc. of Troy, Mich. Terms were not disclosed.

Rockwell, based in Seal Beach, will buy Dura Automotive’s window regulator business, which makes the lift system for moving car windows up and down.

The business, which has about 350 employees and annual sales of $60 million, will be merged with Rockwell’s Light Vehicle Systems unit, Rockwell said.

The purchase includes two plants and various production lines in Gordonsville, Tenn. Additional production lines in Dura’s plants in East Jordan, Mich., and Matamoros, Mexico, will be moved to Gordonsville.

“This enhanced presence in North America complements our worldwide Door Systems activities to ensure global teaming and international support for Rockwell’s customers,” said Robert Calder, president of Rockwell Light Vehicle Systems.

Rockwell’s automotive businesses had sales last year of almost $3 billion. The company supplies systems and components for passenger cars, light trucks, and medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
