ANAHEIM : Free Champs’ Boxing Preview Set at Pond
Fans who do not want to shell out up to $200 for next week’s “Mucho Machismo” boxing at The Pond in Anaheim can get a free eyeful of muscle this morning.
Four of the eight boxers who hope to knock each other out Friday in the pay-per-view fights will begin a public workout at 11 a.m. at The Pond.
The free demonstration is a lead-in to three world-title fights Friday. The show, sponsored by Forum Boxing, is being promoted as the most important boxing event in Orange County history. It is the first fight ever at the Pond.
Champions Humberto “Chiquita” Gonzalez, Alejandro “Cobrita” Gonzalez and Genaro “Chicanito” Hernandez and former champions Jorge Paez and Louie Espinoza will flex for photographers and sign autographs for fans today.
The live fight begins at 6 p.m. Friday--with tickets ranging from $15 to $200--and the pay-per-view show distributed by TVKO begins at 7 p.m.
