Four U.S. Companies to Stop Trading in Tokyo: In another sign of despair for the Tokyo stock market, four big American companies applied to stop trading shares on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. With daily turnover at very low levels and the cost of continuing to list on the exchange relatively high, American Express Co., AlliedSignal Inc., General Electric Co. and Ford Motor Co. all said they intend to withdraw their shares from Tokyo trading.
