ICN Pharmaceuticals Inc.: A subsidiary of the Costa Mesa firm lost its bid Wednesday to overturn an arbitration award totaling $2.7 million, including interest and attorney fees, that a Virginia company had won. An Orange County Superior Court ordered that medical products distributor ICN Biomedicals pay the arbitration award to defense contractor GRC International Inc. in Vienna, Va., in a case stemming from alleged breaches of contract in the 1989 sale of a GRC subsidiary to ICN Biomedicals. GRC said the Costa Mesa company already has paid $400,000 and agreed to pay the remaining amount by next Wednesday.
