THE O.J. SIMPSON MURDER TRIAL : Trial Highlights

Share

Some of the key events Thursday in the O.J. Simpson murder trial:

* SUMMARY: Winding down one phase of their case, prosecutors called a witness to describe the security system at Simpson’s Rockingham Avenue estate. The jury then was dismissed for the day and lawyers for the two sides squared off to debate the limits of testimony and cross- examination on the subject of scientific evidence.

* WITNESSES: Susan Silva, director of administration for Westec Security, said that if the alarm at Simpson’s house had been turned on the night of the murders, the only way to deactivate it would have been to punch in a code at a pad near the front door or the garage. But Silva said there was no way to tell if the alarm was on that night.

* COMING UP: Prosecutors are expected next to turn to the phase of their case devoted to explaining the collection and testing of physical evidence that they allege will link Simpson to the June 12 murders. Their first witness on that subject is expected to be Dennis Fung, a Police Department criminalist charged with collecting evidence on the morning after the murders.
