At-risk teen-agers will spend Thursday morning with community movers and shakers during the fourth annual Career Day in the west San Fernando Valley, sponsored by KYDS, which stands for Keep Youths Doing Something.
During the morning, the teen-agers will accompany public officials and business people as they work. Then the youths and adults will meet at a restaurant for lunch.
“The exchange between our at-risk teens and today’s business community is a positive experience that can make an important, lasting impression,” said City Councilwoman Laura Chick, who will participate. Also participating will be Councilman Richard Alarcon and Reseda High School Principal Robert Kladifko.
Millie Davis, a student adviser at Reseda High, said students “return to school with renewed enthusiasm and self-worth and begin to realize there are opportunities.”
KYDS, a West Hills-based nonprofit organization founded four years ago, creates recreational opportunities for youngsters, with assistance from the Los Angeles Police Department and the Department of Parks and Recreation.
