Garbage Cans

Regarding the new refuse cans: Could someone explain to us what benefit the city gains by getting us these monstrosities? Besides being ugly, large and heavy, they are a strain to roll off the curb, even empty. What are we going to do with our old cans? Clutter up our back yards for rats to congregate? This is one gift we could do without.

The city is sneaking in a secret tax on homeowners. First, I was told I cannot use my own trash barrels, only those provided by the city. The city provides one for garden clippings (including tree pruning), another for trash.
Of course one barrel for garden and trees will be insufficient. The city will “rent” me all I need for $120 a year for each extra barrel. That’s a tax, no matter the semantic used.
