GM to Sell Opel Cars in Vietnam: The Detroit-based auto maker said it signed an agreement to sell and service the passenger car in Vietnam, starting later this year. General Motors Overseas Distribution Corp. signed the agreement with Saigon General Service Co., the company said in a statement. “This marks the latest stop in General Motors’ strategy of establishing a major presence in important markets in the Asian and Pacific region,” using Opel as the main brand, it said. Sales of Opel cars rose 80% in the region last year, it added. Vietnam’s 72 million people still travel mainly on bicycles or motorbikes, but more cars are being sold as the economy develops.
