Camera Platforms Reports $2-Million Loss for Year

Share

Camera Platforms International Inc., a Valencia-based company that supplies platforms and other equipment to the movie industry, reported a larger loss despite an increase in sales for the year that ended Dec. 31.

The company posted a loss of $2 million for 1994, up from the $1.9-million loss recorded in 1993. Sales rose to $2.62 million in 1993, up 35% from $1.94 million a year earlier.

The company said the increase in revenue was primarily due to the acquisition of Shotmaker Dollies & Cranes Inc. midway through 1993. Camera Platforms attributed $600,000 of the loss to a write-down in asset value. The move was designed to reduce shareholders’ equity to an amount consistent with the net proceeds expected from a pending sale of Camera Platforms to Western Production Services Inc.
