Term Limits

Re “House Votes Down Term Limits,” March 30:

Boy! am I surprised. It appears the Republicrats and the Democans are still doing business as usual. No balanced budget amendment, no tax cut, no elimination of capital gains taxes, no term limits, no returning to the states the rights given them by the Constitution, no changes of anything but the jokers names who are telling us how everything has changed for the better.

What this country needs is a second political party. One that realizes being a legislator is not and should not be a full-time job, that any legislation should benefit the majority of the people, not a select few. No one should be allowed to hold an appointed or elected office for more than eight years. That’s enough time for anyone to dedicate to their country and community, and it would also eliminate the big fat pensions they vote for themselves.

I will never vote for an incumbent. Ever.

I see Speaker Newt Gingrich voted for term limits to limit members of Congress to 12 years. Newt has been in Congress for 17 years so can we assume Gingrich won’t run for reelection next year?

Term limits are mediocrity inducing and for those who want new models with lesser quality and no guts.

If the American public is so overwhelmingly in favor of term limits, why do they keep voting the same people back in office?
