Lori Chapman; Magazine Publisher, Fashion Consultant

Lori Chapman, 62, publisher of a lifestyle magazine called L.C. and You and owner of the fashion consulting firm L.C. & Co. A longtime resident of Beverly Hills, Ms. Chapman ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the school board there. She was a clothing retailer for most of her career, serving as a fashion coordinator for Bonwit Teller in Cleveland, New York and Beverly Hills and for Neiman Marcus when it opened a store in Beverly Hills. An indefatigable volunteer wherever she lived, she worked for the New York Convention and Visitors Bureau as a tour guide for European visitors. In Cleveland she presented personal development and self-esteem seminars for the Board of Education and for Catholic schools. In Southern California, she staged fashion shows, including one for the Marcus Garvey School that was titled “Karibuni Mujionee Afrika” (Welcome to the Strength of Africa) and celebrated Black History Month. Ms. Chapman also wrote a column for the Watts Times and served as executive administrator for the annual “Diversity Awards” program of the Multicultural Motion Picture Awards Assn. On Saturday in Beverly Hills after a long illness.
