UP THE COAST : GOINGS ON : MultiCultural Center Relocates to Larger Site : UCSB facility is celebrating its move from a small room with a variety of music and dance tonight and Friday.

UC Santa Barbara’s MultiCultural Center will celebrate its move to a larger facility on campus with a variety of ethnic music and dance tonight and Friday.

For eight years, the center was located in one small room but recently moved to the expanded University Center. The new digs, which include a 150-seat theater, will allow for larger-scale presentations.

Tonight’s activities, beginning at 7, will include performances by the Kapatirang Pilipino Dance Troupe, the American Indian Drum Group and the Ia’ Ora’ Na Te Otea Polynesian dancers. On Friday, the center will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the UCSB Gamelan Ensemble performing music of central Java at noon. Another musical presentation is scheduled for 4 p.m. Admission to all events is free. Call 893-8411.

The Bach Camerata will conclude its 1995 Chamber Music Series in Montecito tonight with a concert at the Music Academy of the West. The performance will begin at 8. General admission is $18. Call (800) 557-BACH. The Music Academy is at 1070 Fairway Road.

Santa Barbara’s Civic Light Opera company will stage the Tony Award-winning musical “Me and My Girl” Friday through May 7 at the Granada Theater. The comedy originally opened in England in 1937, making its way to Broadway in 1986. Show times are 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, 7 p.m. Sundays, with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. An additional show will be presented Wednesday at 3 p.m. General admission is $24.50 to $32.50. A select group of musicians, age 11 to 17, will perform with a full orchestra in the Young Soloists Showcase on Sunday at the Lobero Theater. UCSB’s Arts & Lectures program will kick off its spring film series Monday with Peter Jackson’s “Heavenly Creatures.” Other films in the series are “To Live” on April 17, “. . . and the earth did not swallow him” on May 1, “Little Women” on May 8, “Vanya on 42nd Street” on May 11, “The Wonderful Horrible Life of Leni Riefenstahl” on May 15 and “Cario Diario (Dear Diary)” on May 18.
