STM Wireless Subsidiary Wins Navy Contracts Worth $57 Million

STM Wireless Inc., a manufacturer of satellite and wireless communications products, said Tuesday that a subsidiary has received two five-year contracts from the U.S. Navy worth $57.2 million for engineering and technical services.

The Irvine company’s subsidiary, RF Microsystems Inc., won the contracts and will hire subcontractors for about half of the work.

Under the first contract, the company will provide engineering and technical services for radio transmission systems for the Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division, in Maryland. The contract is valued at $49.1 million.

Under the second contract, the company will provide high-level engineering support for the Navy’s extremely high-frequency satellite program. The contract, valued at $8.1 million, is with the Research and Development Division of the Naval Command, Control and Ocean Surveillance Center in San Diego.
