Garden Grove : A Chance for Mother to Put On Happy Face

Do you love your mother so much that you’d have one of Beverly Hills’ premiere beauty salons give her a make-over? If so, maybe she can have it--for free.

But first you have to write a 300-word essay explaining why she is the best mother in the world. The winner will collect a make-over for mom.

The free make-over is the top prize in an essay-writing contest being held in connection with this year’s Garden Grove Strawberry Festival, scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, May 26 to 29.

“A Strawberry Salute to Moms” is the theme of the festival, and the stars of the NBC television series “Mommies,” Marilyn Kentz and Caryl Kristensen, will be grand marshals of the festival parade May 27.

In addition to the Beverly Hills make-over, the mother of the essay contest winner will ride in the parade.

The deadline for submitting essays is Saturday. A panel of judges will choose 10 finalists from among the entries, and Kentz and Kristensen will then select the winner.
