France to Sell Bull Stakes to NEC, Motorola: The French government said it is selling stakes in money-losing computer maker Cie des Machines Bull to Motorola Inc. of the United States and NEC of Japan while cutting its own stake by half to 40%. NEC will raise its stake to 17% from 3.74% and Motorola will take an initial holding of 10% with the possibility of increasing it to 17%. Motorola said it hopes its investment will broaden the market for the PowerPC, the computer chip it developed with IBM and Apple Computer to counter the world dominance of chips from Intel Corp.
