OXNARD : Health Clinic Moving to Chavez School
Oxnard’s Cesar Chavez School will be the new site of a medical clinic that will provide care to the school’s students.
Oxnard Elementary School District trustees voted Wednesday to move a medical clinic from Ramona School, no longer an elementary campus, to Cesar Chavez School in La Colonia. They also voted to have the Ventura County Medical Center operate the clinic.
Expected to open by the end of May, the clinic will provide a bilingual pediatrician and a nurse who will see about 30 students from low-income families twice a month.
Students will be able to receive a physical exam, and if they require further assistance will be referred to other agencies in the area.
Officials hope to eventually offer the services at the school twice a week.
