Longing for the Old Mall in Anaheim

Share

* The renovation of Anaheim Plaza is an abomination. It is no more nor less a slap in the face to the community. After years of being a “high-class” place to shop, with major, upscale retailers, it is now just a glorified strip mall and no longer a sight to be proud of. Years of mismanagement and neglect allowed an intimate and convenient enclosed mall to fall into ruin and become deserted. Now we have an off-price shopping center of no particular distinction.

What did the planners of such garish sight have in mind? Now that it is already completed, looking more like a revitalized industrial zone, did they have to add insult to injury by painting it in such atrocious colors? I, for one, have a strong aversion to the site.

As a longtime resident of Anaheim, it is disappointing that I have to go outside the city to find first-class retailers. Is this to be Anaheim’s future? At least change the color scheme and sign designs so the whole thing does not look like it was done on the cheap!
