Toyota to Build Second Plant: Japan’s No. 1 auto maker plans to spend $120 million on the factory, a spokesman said. The plant, to be built in suburban Manila, will begin production in early 1997. It will have an annual output of 25,000 vehicles and create 1,000 jobs, the spokesman said. Toyota Motor Corp.’s existing Philippine plant has 1,771 workers. Toyota Motor Philippines is 60% owned by Metro Bank Group of the Philippines, 25% by Toyota and 15% by Japanese trading firm Mitsui & Co.
