Attempted murder and other felony charges were filed Tuesday against two men allegedly involved in a shootout with police on Easter Sunday in Van Nuys.

Prosecutors requested bail of nearly $1.7 million for Manuel Reyes, 25, of Van Nuys, and bond of $1.12 million for Fernando Urias, 22, of Panorama City.

Reyes and Urias were arrested early Sunday after a gun battle that started at Tio’s, a bar on Raymer Street in Van Nuys, and continued on to Kester Avenue, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Robert Cohen.

The incident began with shots fired outside the bar as Reyes, Urias and other patrons were leaving about 2 a.m., Cohen said. Charles Pineda was hit in the buttocks, but no one else was wounded.

About the time of the shooting, off-duty Los Angeles Police Officer Jack Parker was driving by, Cohen said. Also driving by was a reserve officer, Debra Fairchild.

Reyes, who was armed with a handgun, is accused of firing at Parker and Fairchild, then fleeing in a car driven by Urias, the prosecutor said.

After a car chase that involved several stops and ended in an exchange of gunfire, Reyes and Urias were taken into custody, Cohen said.
