Chile Meets With NAFTA Negotiators: The Chilean government began a two-day meeting with representatives of Mexico, Canada and the United States to discuss joining the North American Free Trade Agreement. Chilean authorities are expected to make a presentation on their legal system to demonstrate that the country currently complies with NAFTA’s legal provisions, Mexican officials said. Chile was officially invited to join the pact in December. Chile’s Finance Minister Eduardo Aninat said negotiations at a ministerial level should start in May.
