Murals: Artists From Church Provide Efforts and Materials

Share

A recent article (“Murals Brighten Community Offices,” March 23) indicates that an artists’ association has donated its time to paint these murals.

In actual fact we are all members of the Church of Scientology. We got together with the Director of the Church’s Community Outreach program, which coordinated and located the projects and did all the organizing to get these projects pulled off for the last six years.

We are very happy to be part of the Church and working with their programs.

We feel that it is very important that the private sector be acknowledged for its contributions to improving the community.

The murals project is just one of the activities the Church’s Community Outreach has been involved with to help improve the conditions for at-risk children under the care of the County. The program itself has raised thousands of toys at Christmas for the kids, put on special parties for the foster family associations, helped with literacy programs for the youth, anti-crime activities, educational programs against drugs, and many other activities.

If it wasn’t for the Church and their program which organized this project, we wouldn’t have been involved.

However, we are very proud of being a part of it and what they are trying to do by getting people to donate their time to tutor, entertain, and otherwise improve standards of life in our community.
