A multi-agency task force arrested 14 people early Thursday on a variety of charges after a shooting several weeks ago in which a Huntington Beach police officer was fired on.

The nine-agency law enforcement team, including 72 city, county and federal officers swept into the Oak View area of the city, where Officer Deron Scott was fired on, according to Lt. Dan Johnson.

The 13 men and one 17-year-old juvenile were held on suspicion of crimes ranging from parole and immigration violations to suspected misdemeanor drug possession and possession of stolen property, Johnson said. Those arrested were believed to be members of a local street gang.

The juvenile was released to the custody of his parents, Johnson said. The others were held at Huntington Beach Jail. Those detained on immigration charges will be turned over to the INS, and those held for parole violation will be turned over to Orange County probation authorities.
