Earth Day Events Set for Saturday

* The city of Thousand Oaks will hold its Earth Day celebration, “Show and Tell,” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Conejo Creek Park North, behind the Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road; exhibits, natural foods, live music, recycling information, art exhibit and more. Co-sponsored by Through Children’s Eyes, Mrs. Gooch’s market and the Tri-Valley Environmental Committee. * The third annual Earth Day “Making a World of Difference” celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Oxnard College, 4000 S. Rose Ave. Exhibits by nonprofit conservation and environmental groups, live music, ethnic and health foods and more. Presented by the college and the city of Oxnard. Free. Information: 986-5809.

* The Friends of the Channel Islands National Park will have a four-mile “March for Parks,” part of a national effort to raise funds for the national park system; 9 a.m. registration, 10 a.m. start time at the park visitor center, 1901 Spinnaker Drive, Ventura Harbor. * The Wilderness Adventures section of the Angeles chapter of the Sierra Club will celebrate Earth Day and the birthday of environmentalist and explorer John Muir with a strenuous 14-mile hike to Reyes Peak in the Sespe Wilderness (4,000-foot elevation gain). * The Conejo Open Space Advisory Committee is seeking volunteers to help clear debris from Wildwood Creek. Meet at 9 a.m. at Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks, west end of Avenida de Los Arboles. Bring water and snacks and wear sturdy clothing. Information: 496-2463.
