SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

A raid early Thursday morning on 20 homes in Placentia and Anaheim resulted in the arrests of 10 adults and one youth suspected of a variety of parole, probation and weapons violations, Placentia police said.

The suspects will face “a multitude of charges,” primarily probation or parole violations, traffic warrants and weapons violations, Placentia Police Sgt. Ward Smith said.

All were subject to search and seizure under the terms of their release, he said.

The 61 officers who took part in the raid seized a .22-caliber handgun, ammunition, a homemade sickle, knives, clubs, batons and an assortment of drug paraphernalia, Smith said.

The raid was part of a cooperative effort by Placentia, Anaheim and La Habra police departments, the Orange County Probation Department and the Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement, a division of the state Department of Justice.

“They have a newly formed unit that is referred to as the violence suppression unit,” Smith said.

That unit, which has been in existence for about two months, relies on probation and parole records and information gathered from sources in the community to choose the targets of routine, periodic sweeps, Smith said.
