The Role of Churches in Local Politics

Share

Regarding the campaign in the 10th District between Nate Holden and Stan Sanders (Cover story, April 2): What the people need now is more politician non -involvement with churches.

This might come as a surprise to many, but blacks are fed up with these ministries coming too much into politics. I believe that there is a supreme being and I know that in the Bible it says clearly to render to God that which is God’s and render to Caesar that which is Caesar’s. It seems that the church has forgotten this.

Blacks should have more scholars and fewer preachers. The debate in the 10th District is enlightening for the black politician because it shows that black politicians have to be accountable for all of their actions and not just getting into the office because they are black.

Let us face it! The honeymoon is over for that kind of stuff and thanks to God and all his saints, because the black politicians’ mess is the biggest of all the politicians’ messes.
