Safeguard Health Names John E. Cox to Executive Posts
John E. Cox has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of Safeguard Health Enterprises Inc., an Anaheim managed care dental program. He had been with Cigna Dental Health Co., a unit of Cigna Insurance Co., for 10 years. Also, Thomas C. Tekulve has been named vice president of accounting, finance and information systems. He was previously with Beckman Instruments for 11 years, most recently as director of finance for international operations.
* Matt McGuinness has been named chief financial officer of El Pollo Loco, an Irvine fast-food restaurant chain owned by Flagstar Cos. He had been director of finance prior to his new appointment. Before that, McGuinness held several positions in the accounting and finance departments of Denny’s restaurants, also a Flagstar company.
* Ilene Graney has been named vice president of sales and marketing for 4th Dimension Software, and now heads the company’s North American field operations. Graney joined 4th Dimension last year as a director responsible for establishing the company’s North American product management group. Nicholas Brox has been appointed vice president of commercial accounts. Prior to joining 4th Dimension, Brox was senior vice president of sales and marketing for Peregrine Systems Inc. Gary Pattengill has been selected vice president of product marketing. He was previously director of business development.
* Jack Galen, vice president of transportation for Macy’s West/Bullock’s store operations, is retiring after 52 years with the company. Galen, 69, has been responsible for transportation operations for the western division of R.H. Macy & Co.--California, Texas, Minnesota, Arizona and Nevada.
