Leading Software Makers Expand Alliance: Microsoft Corp. and Computer Associates International Inc. said they will jointly market business software, expanding an existing alliance between the nation’s largest and second-largest software makers. Islandia, N.Y.-based Computer Associates will deliver its business application software on Microsoft’s Windows NT operating system. Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft will create a product that includes its partner’s CA-Unicenter computer-systems management software. Chairmen Charles B. Wang of Computer Associates and Bill Gates of Microsoft announced the agreement at Comdex-Windows World, a computer industry trade show, in Atlanta. The two companies began a working relationship in 1993. The executives said the agreement was in development for about a year.
