Share

Alpha Microsystems, a Santa Ana provider of information technology products and services, lost $6.2 million, or 96 cents a share, for the year ended Feb. 26. That contrasts with profit of $336,000, or 8 cents a share, for the preceding fiscal year.

Revenue was down 1% to $38.8 million from $39.3 million. The company’s fourth quarter loss totaled $5.3 million, or 81 cents a share, contrasted with net income of $103,000, or 2 cents a share, for the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue was down 7% to $9.1 million from $9.8 million.

The company attributed the loss primarily to the costs of a reorganization aimed at focusing on growth businesses. The plan included the divestitures of Alpha Microsystems’ Belgian subsidiary, several software lines and its imaging business. The company also took a $4-million charge for writing off obsolete inventories and for the severance costs related to previously announced layoffs.
