OXNARD : Ex-Attorney Gets 120 Days for Theft

Former Oxnard attorney Carlos Yanez was sentenced Friday to 120 days in jail for embezzling $53,000 from a client.
Ventura County Superior Court Judge Charles McGrath also sentenced Yanez, 39, to three years’ probation. Yanez pleaded no contest Feb. 3 to stealing the money from a trust account belonging to Robert Garry Jones.
Yanez paid back the money and resigned from the State Bar of California before the sentencing, Deputy Dist. Atty. Bill Redmond said in a news release.
