EAST LOS ANGELES : Screenwriter to Run Tutoring Program
Free classes to help students improve their writing skills will begin May 2 at the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Youth Activities League Community Center.
Screenwriter Enrique Berumen-Garcia will conduct the after-school sessions for youths 8 to 18. The sessions will focus on the development of writing skills and help the students with homework assignments.
The league, established in 1975, provides programs such as basketball, swimming, karate, literacy classes and the Girl Scouts at the center, 4360 Dozier Ave.
The sessions will be held through June 22, 3:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Participants can show up at class or register by calling (213) 267-0012.
