When House Reps ‘Go Native’
The major benefit to constituents of members of Congress who sleep in their offices rather than setting up housekeeping in Washington, is that their representatives don’t “go native” (“Their House Away from Home,” April 18).
I’ve worked for two members of Congress from California. One bought a house in Georgetown and had to be dragged kicking and screaming to visit his district. The other left his family in the district and went home almost every weekend.
I’d rather be represented by someone who sleeps in his office than by a full-time resident of the Virginia, D.C. and Maryland suburbs any time.

Republicans sleeping on mail-order mattresses on the floors of their offices. This is using taxpayers’ money to subsidize shower facilities and janitorial services. How typical. How tacky.
