A Simi Valley restaurant that pledged to donate a day’s worth of earnings to the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing raised nearly $4,700 for the cause.

China Express, situated in Mountain Gate Plaza, collected $2,615 in meal payments at a daylong Red Cross fund-raiser Tuesday.

The restaurant took in an additional $2,072 in donations from customers and from volunteer waiters who turned over their tips.

Further donations may be sent to the First Christian Church in Oklahoma City, which is serving as the official relief center for victims and their families.

Donation checks should be made out to the Disaster Relief Fund and sent to the church at 3700 N. Walker St., Oklahoma City, OK 73118.

Simi’s Rotary Club has also contributed to victims of the bombing disaster, donating $2,000 to relief efforts there.

“I think everyone around the world feels for the victims and their families, especially for the children,” said George Bercow, president of the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise.

The contribution will be added to a fund organized by the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City. Donations to that fund may be sent to the Oklahoma City Rotary Foundation Relief Fund, 120 N. Robinson St., Suite 1909, Oklahoma City, Okla., 73102, or call (405) 235-5100.
