A Republican who lost a seat in the U.S. House by 21 votes last November gave up his challenge of the results Friday.

Edward Munster, his voice cracking, announced his decision to about 35 supporters at his Middletown headquarters.

Democrat Sam Gejdenson posted a two-vote victory when polls closed Nov. 8. The margin increased to 21 votes after a review by the state Supreme Court.
